A 19-year-old Tell City man, Jacob L. Maxey, is sentenced to nine years in prison after being convicted of attempted armed robbery and theft. The charges stem from a dramatic incident on March 26, 2025, where Maxey attempted to rob a victim at gunpoint while firing multiple shots in a residential area of Spencer County.
Authorities began the investigation following the discovery of a bullet hole at the Rockport High Rise Apartments. Surveillance footage and witness statements led to Maxey’s identification as the suspect using a firearm that was confirmed stolen just days prior to the robbery attempt. His sentence includes three years with the Indiana Department of Correction, followed by work release and probation.
