A new app called EveryShot aims to inform Tennessee residents about gun violence in their communities by tracking shooting incidents statewide and nationwide. Leveraging artificial intelligence, the app analyzes media reports to categorize various gun-related events, allowing users to filter by date, location, type of shooting, and victim demographics. With 79 incidents recorded in Tennessee as of late March, the app highlights the urgent need for awareness around gun violence, especially in Memphis, which accounts for 42 of these incidents.
According to Everytown for Gun Safety, the organization behind EveryShot, the tool’s extensive database will cover over 75 categories, including unintentional shootings, homicides, and police-related incidents. In just the first few months of 2025, Tennessee has reported 328 gun-related incidents, resulting in 115 deaths and 196 injuries, with Memphis seeing 167 of those cases. This detailed tracking aims to provide a comprehensive snapshot of gun violence, potentially influencing public policy and community awareness regarding safety and legislation.
