The Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission has finalized the hunting and trapping seasons for 2025-2026 during its April meeting, maintaining current deer and turkey seasons while shifting the bear hunting season in Zone 2 to October. Notably, two new public hunting areas—Scott’s Gulf Centennial State Park and Wolf River State Forest—have been opened, expanding access for hunters across the state.
In response to safety concerns, the Commission has implemented new regulations allowing the use of fluorescent pink in place of traditional hunter orange. Key changes also include the prohibition of activities in waterfowl impoundments on non-hunting days at Cheatham Lake WMA, reflecting an increased focus on safety and responsible wildlife management.
