A child in Fort Worth is hospitalized in stable condition following an accidental shooting by a family member who was cleaning a firearm. The incident occurred on Sunday evening when a bullet ricocheted off a surface after being discharged, resulting in the child’s injury.
When police arrived at the scene, they learned that a relative had already transported the child to a hospital for treatment. This incident comes amid ongoing concerns over unintentional shootings involving children, which killed at least 136 youths across the country in 2024 alone. Fort Worth detectives are currently investigating the incident, but no criminal charges have been announced.
