Texas Deer and Quail Hunting Seasons Begin Nov. 1

Texas deer and quail hunting seasons officially start on November 1, drawing in enthusiasts from around the state eager to participate in these longstanding traditions. The deer season will run through January 2026, specifically from November 1 to January 4 in the North Zone and until January 18 in the South Zone. Notably, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department reports approximately 5.3 million white-tailed deer in the state, with current conditions promising slightly above-average to average antler quality due to a fruitful growing season.

In addition to deer, quail hunting will be open until February 28, 2026, allowing hunters to enjoy multiple pursuits. The economic impact of deer hunting is significant, contributing an estimated $9.6 billion to Texas’s economy annually, highlighting the importance of these activities for both wildlife management and local economies. As a new feature, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is also offering fully-digital hunting licenses for the first time, streamlining the process for modern hunters.
