Eustorgio Quiroz-Salto, a Texas man illegally reentering the U.S., is sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for his role in a significant methamphetamine distribution operation. In a DEA sting operation on December 12, 2023, Quiroz-Salto was apprehended in a church parking lot with 20 kilograms (44 pounds) of meth, while law enforcement later discovered an additional 93.5 kilograms (206.1 pounds) at his home, along with 12 firearms and a silencer.
Pleading guilty in July 2024, Quiroz-Salto’s prior criminal history includes two previous deportations and a 2011 cocaine trafficking conviction. Prosecutors emphasized the seriousness of his offenses, stating that repeat border crossing and drug trafficking carry severe consequences. Quiroz-Salto is set to be removed from the U.S. upon completing his sentence, while his accomplice, Manuel Varjas Corona, faces potential life imprisonment.
