The botched robbery occurred in August 2023, when the agent and a confidential informant returned to a drug dealer’s location in Algiers to finalize a fentanyl purchase. Tropez brandished a firearm, while Lott wielded an assault rifle, leading to a chaotic scene that resulted in the agent falling and suffering life-altering injuries. The incident highlights the dangers of undercover operations, raising crucial questions about the safety of law enforcement engaged in narcotics investigations.
