Terry Sellers, a 53-year-old from Henning, TN, has pleaded guilty to multiple counts of illegal deer hunting on state property, specifically at the West Tennessee State Penitentiary. He faces a restitution fee of $17,500 payable to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA), and his hunting privileges have been suspended for six years. The case began after authorities received reports of a notable 15-point buck killed within the restricted area.
Investigators found that Sellers illegally killed three deer on state grounds, amassing a combined score of 491 5/8 inches. The deer were subsequently deemed contraband by the court and will be repurposed by the TWRA for educational displays. The case highlights ongoing challenges regarding wildlife conservation and illegal hunting practices in restricted areas.
