Students from seven schools in the Triangle area of North Carolina participate in the nationwide Students Demand Action movement, advocating for stricter gun control measures. Their demand for change comes in the wake of a devastating shooting in Minneapolis that claimed the lives of two children and injured 21 others, further highlighting the urgent need for policy reform surrounding gun violence in schools.

The initiative coincides with Governor Josh Stein’s veto of legislation that would have allowed easier access to firearms for adults over 18, reflecting ongoing debates about gun safety and community protection.
