A Tucson man, 45-year-old Damien Jax Schaffer, is arrested for selling illegal gun conversion devices that modify semi-automatic guns into machineguns. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) conducted surveillance from May to June 2025, discovering Schaffer manufactured and sold at least 15 of these unregistered devices without the required federal firearms license.
This arrest is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at curbing violence and illegal activities connected to firearms and cartels. The prosecution is led by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona, highlighting the government’s commitment to addressing firearms violations and promoting community safety.
