Two individuals were arrested in Woonsocket on drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop for a seat belt violation. During the stop, officers discovered over 1.3 ounces of crack cocaine in plain view, along with additional quantities of fentanyl and a loaded firearm in the vehicle.
Driver Malda Tyks and her passenger David Kennedy now face serious charges, including possession with intent to deliver multiple controlled substances and illegal possession of a firearm. Both individuals have significant criminal backgrounds, as Kennedy is currently on federal probation and a convicted felon, making the situation particularly alarming for local law enforcement.
