Rashod Omrion Jarome Harris, 21, and Harry Lavern Hillard, Jr., 19, are sentenced to a total of 58 years after pleading guilty to second-degree murder and aggravated assault linked to a shooting in Biloxi that resulted in the death of 20-year-old Damari Daniels. The tragic event occurred on August 26, 2023, when the two men opened fire on McDonnell Avenue, leaving another victim injured and raising concerns over escalating gun violence among the youth in the area.
As part of their sentences, both men will serve 28 years behind bars and undergo 10 years of post-release supervision. The sentencing also highlighted the profound grief expressed by Daniels’ family, who attended the hearings, pointing to a cycle of violence that devastates communities. Officials, including District Attorney Crosby Parker, emphasized that while the legal repercussions provide accountability, they cannot heal the deep wounds inflicted by this senseless act.
