Two cousins, Rubenny Torres Duran and Jose Torres Moncion, have been indicted on charges related to the sale of illegal ghost guns in Baldwin and Freeport, New York. The indictment, announced by the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office, stems from their arrest on June 11 when police discovered five ghost guns, including assault rifles and pistols, in their vehicle.
According to District Attorney Anne Donnelly, these firearms lack serial numbers, making them untraceable, and pose significant risks to community safety. Torres Duran allegedly sold four additional guns for prices ranging from $900 to $1,540, sourced from Pennsylvania. Both men have pleaded not guilty to multiple felony charges; if convicted, they each face up to 25 years in prison. Their next court appearances are scheduled for September.
