Vladimir Putin accuses Ukraine’s secret service of recruiting a 24-year-old woman, Hatice Buyukcan, to execute a car bombing against a senior Russian officer. Arrested by Kremlin forces, Buyukcan, who holds dual Russian and Ukrainian nationality, now faces potential decades in prison for high treason and terrorism after allegedly receiving training in sabotage and firearms from Ukrainian agents.
The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) claims that Buyukcan was prepared to carry out her plot during a military celebration in May, reportedly found with explosives in her hotel room. Throughout her interrogation, Buyukcan purportedly admits she was drawn into the plot but expresses regret for her choices, stating she wishes she had never connected with the alleged recruiter named Alex in Kyiv.
