A Yemeni organization has reported finding remnants of a US-made GBU-39 JDAM bunker-buster bomb at a detention center for illegal migrants in Yemen’s Saada Correctional Facility. This type of bomb is classified among the most dangerous internationally banned weapons and its use against a civilian site raises serious allegations of violations of international law, particularly under the Geneva Conventions.
The Yemen Executive Mine Action Center (YEMAC) highlights that this bomb’s detonation could reach temperatures of up to 3,500 degrees Celsius, leading to devastating consequences for civilians, including increased cancer cases and environmental destruction.
