USA Health Secures $1 Million Grant to Combat Gun Violence

USA Health recently announced a $1 million grant aimed at addressing the issue of gun violence in Mobile by treating it like a preventable disease. The initiative will focus on supporting court-involved and high-risk youth through interventions that include bedside assistance for victims and mentorship programs designed to foster community resilience.

With a rising number of incidents reflecting the urgent need for action, USA Health’s program intends to collaborate with local organizations to provide trauma response, conflict resolution strategies, and resources that build social connections among youth. “We know that early intervention can change outcomes,” says Dr. Ashley Williams Hogue, underscoring the initiative’s evidence-based approach to curbing violence and promoting healing in the community.
