Virginia Beach Police Shoot Man Who Pointed Replica Gun

Virginia Beach police shot an 18-year-old man, Shaun Marlar, after he allegedly pointed a replica handgun at officers responding to a report of a suspicious individual. The incident occurred at approximately 8:41 a.m. on Honeygrove Road, where officers found Marlar and ordered him to drop the weapon; however, he instead aimed the replica at them, prompting officers to fire.

Marlar remains in critical but stable condition, while two officers are currently on administrative leave. In a related development, police arrested local radio personality Brandon Strokes, who attempted to enter the secured area while displaying signs of intoxication. Strokes faces charges of driving under the influence and obstruction of justice, underscoring the complex circumstances surrounding the scene. A thorough investigation by the Virginia Beach Office of the Commonwealth Attorney is underway.
