WA Supreme Court Upholds Ban on High-Capacity Magazines

The Washington State Supreme Court recently ruled 7-2 to uphold a law that bans the sale of magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds, a decision that has significant implications for gun rights in the state. Centered around Gator’s Custom Guns in Kelso, the ruling states that such magazines are not considered arms under the Washington or U.S. Constitutions, and the law was enacted to promote public safety.

This decision follows previous legal battles, including a lower court ruling that initially found the law unconstitutional. Disappointed by the outcome, the Silent Majority Foundation, which represents Gator’s, indicated plans to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court, highlighting that they have 90 days to seek such a review. The case shines a spotlight on the contentious issue of gun regulation in Washington state amid ongoing national discussions about firearm laws.
