Warner Robins Launches Gun Turn-In Initiative

A grieving family in Warner Robins, Georgia, is launching “Operation Lay It Down,” an initiative designed to combat gun violence by providing a safe and anonymous way for individuals to turn in unwanted firearms. This initiative is particularly poignant as it stems from the tragic loss of 14-year-old Traquavis Holloway, who was killed by gun violence, and aims to prevent similar tragedies within the community.

Starting this Saturday, adults can surrender firearms without any questions asked at Perkins Field between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Traquavis’s mother emphasizes the initiative’s goal is not just about relinquishing personal weapons, but ensuring that any guns that may be in the hands of youth can be safely removed to protect families and children. A media briefing is set to discuss further details regarding this initiative and its implications for local safety.
