Westville Man Guilty of Federal Firearm Crime

A Westville man, Jimmy Darrell Porter, Jr., pleads guilty to a federal firearm crime, admitting to using and discharging a firearm in connection with a violent offense on August 4, 2024. This charge stems from a detailed investigation led by the FBI, the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service, and the Westville Police Department.

Following his plea, Judge D. Edward Snow has ordered a presentence investigation report before determining Porter’s sentence, which will align with federal guidelines. Currently, he remains in custody of the U.S. Marshals Service as the case progresses, raising questions about the broader implications of gun violence in the community.
