Wicomico County is launching a new initiative to enhance firearm safety by giving away free gun safes to adults residing or working in the area. This program, facilitated by a grant from the Maryland Department of Health’s Center for Firearm Violence Prevention and Intervention, aims to reduce gun-related injuries and fatalities through better storage practices.
Officials announce several giveaway events at key locations over the next few months, starting with the Westside Volunteer Fire Department on October 25th. Alongside the gun safes, there will also be a raffle for a long gun carrying case, emphasizing the county’s commitment to promoting responsible firearm ownership while making these essential safety tools accessible to the community.
