Wilmington police have identified the man shot and killed in the West Center City neighborhood on May 16 as 24-year-old Cashis Boston. This tragic incident occurred just before 5 p.m. in the 700 block of W. Sixth St., near notable local landmarks like the William “Hicks” Anderson Community Center.
Despite Boston’s death, Wilmington has seen a significant decrease in shootings this year, with 23 individuals shot compared to 37 during the same period last year—a nearly 38% reduction. However, Boston marks the fifth fatal shooting in the city in 2025, raising concerns as the number of gun-related deaths has slightly increased over the same timeframe. Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to contact Detective Brandon Mosley or Delaware Crime Stoppers.
