Wolcott Man Pleads Guilty to Ghost Gun Charges

Jose Colon, a 37-year-old resident of Wolcott, has pleaded guilty to federal firearm charges after being found in possession of a ghost gun during a police pursuit in March 2024. Federal authorities report that Colon unlawfully possessed ammunition as a felon, leading to a potential sentence of up to 15 years in prison when he is sentenced on May 13.

During the incident, Colon discarded a privately made 9 mm handgun loaded with six rounds of ammunition while fleeing from Waterbury police. With a criminal history that prohibits him from legally possessing firearms, Colon’s case underscores ongoing concerns regarding the proliferation of ghost guns and their implications for public safety.
