Woman Convicted for Smuggling Guns in Microwaves

Elizabeth Tejada, a New York resident, has been found guilty of smuggling firearms overseas by concealing them in microwave ovens purchased in Philadelphia. The Philadelphia District Attorney, Larry Krasner, announced the conviction following an investigation that began in the fall of 2023, revealing that Tejada coordinated with others to acquire the weapons and ship them abroad through these unconventional means.

Text messages uncovered during the investigation illustrated her communication with co-conspirators who directed her on which guns to buy. With her sentencing scheduled for July, the case raises serious concerns about the methods used in illegal arms trafficking and the potential risks associated with such activities.
