WV Releases 2025-2026 Hunting Season Dates

The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) announces updated dates for the 2025-2026 hunting seasons, effective July 1. Among the notable changes are the removal of minimum age restrictions for youth hunting seasons and the elimination of maximum caliber restrictions for nighttime coyote hunting, aimed at enhancing accessibility and flexibility for hunters.

Additionally, hunters will now be allowed to use drones and one leashed dog to track mortally wounded animals, marking a progressive shift in tracking methods. The buck firearm season remains similar to last year, running from November 24 to December 7, while the archery season gains an extra day from September 27 to October 1. These adjustments reflect WVDNR’s commitment to wildlife management while honoring West Virginia’s rich hunting culture.
