Yakima Man Sentenced for Possessing Stolen Firearm

Damian Iniguez, a 31-year-old resident of Yakima, WA, is sentenced to 75 months in prison for possessing a stolen firearm, illustrating serious public safety risks posed by felons accessing weapons. The sentence, delivered by U.S. District Judge Mary K. Dimke, follows an incident where Iniguez was arrested after being found slumped in a running vehicle with a loaded Glock .40 caliber pistol in his sweatshirt pocket—a firearm stolen from Oregon in 2021.

Acting U.S. Attorney Richard R. Barker emphasizes the threat posed by such unlawful possession of firearms, pointing out that Iniguez’s case underscores the collaborative efforts of law enforcement to protect the community. With a history of criminal convictions barring him from gun ownership, Iniguez’s actions serve as a crucial reminder of the commitment to enforce federal firearm laws in Washington State.
