York City Council Votes on Rapid-Fire Gun Attachment Ban

The York City Council is set to vote on a proposed ordinance that would ban the manufacture, sale, and use of rapid-fire gun attachments within city limits. If passed, this legislation would restrict devices that increase the firing rate of firearms, such as bump stocks and binary triggers, marking a significant step toward enhancing public safety in response to a rise in gun-related incidents.

City Council President Edquina Washington emphasizes that the primary goal of the bill is to reassure residents about their safety, stating that such devices will not be tolerated in the community. York City Police Commissioner Michael Muldrow supports the initiative, explaining that these rapid-fire attachments effectively convert standard guns into automatic firearms, complicating law enforcement’s ability to respond effectively to gun violence. The council’s decision is anticipated to reflect a growing consensus on the need for common-sense gun legislation that prioritizes community protection.
