The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is hosting its inaugural managed Deer Hunt for Youth at the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary on November 1-2, 2025. This unique event aims to engage local youth aged 6-15 in outdoor activities while addressing deer overpopulation, which poses risks to habitat health and wildlife.
Only five youth will be selected to participate in this hunt, requiring them to apply by September 15, 2025. Each participant must be accompanied by a non-hunting adult, who must possess hunter-education certification if born after January 1, 1967. Interested individuals can find further details on safety regulations and application procedures by contacting the Rivers Project Office.
