A 35-year-old Charleston resident, Jimmy Franklin King, Jr., is sentenced to 115 months in federal prison for illegally possessing “ghost guns” and 3D-printed firearm components. The U.S. Attorney’s Office revealed that King imported firearm parts from China, including an illegal silencer, and was found with two more unregistered firearms during his arrest in September 2023.
Investigators discovered significant evidence at King’s home, including 3D printers, a computer with software for creating machine gun conversion devices, and illegal ammunition. This marked the maximum sentence allowable under federal guidelines, highlighting ongoing concerns about the increasing prevalence of untraceable firearms in the community.
