A Larimer County sheriff’s deputy shot and injured a man early Monday morning after a car chase in northern Fort Collins. The incident began when a deputy attempted to pull over a vehicle, prompting the passenger to take control of the car and flee, leading to a multi-mile pursuit that ended when the suspect crashed into a ditch.
After exiting the vehicle with a knife, the man approached deputies and even attempted to drive off in an unoccupied patrol car. Authorities report that the deputy shot the man, who was subsequently hospitalized with serious injuries while the investigation into the shooting continues. The area remains closed as the Eighth Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team conducts their inquiry.
